17: Simon Carries the Cross |
| As they went out, they came upon a man of Cyre'ne, Simon by name; this man they compelled to carry his cross. | And they compelled a passer-by, Simon of Cyre'ne, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. And they brought him to the place called Gol'gotha (which means the place of a skull) | And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyre'ne, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. |
