And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads
and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the
cross."
So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying,
"He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross,
and we will believe in him.
He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him; for he said, `I am the Son of God.'"
And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

So also the chief priests mocked him to one another with the scribes, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those who
were crucified with him also reviled him.

And the people stood by, watching; but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his
Chosen One!"
The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him vinegar,
and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!"
There was also an inscription over him, "This is the King of the Jews."
One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other rebuked him,
saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?

Pilate also wrote a title and put it on the cross; it read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."
Many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.
The chief priests of the Jews then said to Pilate, "Do not write, `The King of the Jews,' but, `This man said, I
am King of the Jews.'"
Pilate answered, "What I have written I have written."
